A highly successful 3-day Championship was hosted at Chung Chung Middle School Hall, Seria on 17 - 19 February 2006.

 

This was the  2nd  Wadokai Karatedo Brunei Darussalam Championship 2006  which was made possible with the generous support and donations from various sponsors.

 The kind sponsors are MAH Veterinary Services, PTAS, JBS, Khoon Fen, MOC, Megamas, SKS Wood, SSB Hospital and United Advertising.

Shihan Hj. Malai Mohammed bin Hj. Malai Othman, its Chief Instructor & President, in his Opening Speech welcomed and thanked everyone involved with the Championship.

 

He said that the Annual Championship is held in line with Wadokai's Mission, Objectives, Goal and training methodology, to train and groom athletes, to encourage and cultivate young people to lead active, happy, healthy lifestyles, thus preventing youths from being social threat to the society and country.

Simultaneously, the Narcotics Control  Bureau (NCB) set up a mini-Exhibition Show while the finals of the Championship was going on.  NCB Officers were on hand to answer questions from the public.

To mark WADOKAI's  41 years  in Brunei Darussalam (Established in 1965), sandwiched in between the Championship's 3rd day,  was the official launching of its website  www.wadokaibrunei.com  by the chief guest, Pg. Hj. Yura Kesteria PSN Pg. Hj. Mohd. Yusof, President of BRUKAF (Brunei Karatedo Federation).

 

Leslie Lim Seng Lee of VisionART Software Development (EZ-Source.NET), presented the Wado Website, assisted by  Gary Lim Kwok Chuen from Gawi Trading, joined by the rest of the Web Team.  

Invited guests and supporters watched more than 120 players, the majority of whom are  young school children, from ages 5 - 15 (Children's Category) and Above 16 - Senior, represented by 5 teams from BSB, CCMS, KB Hombo, Telanai and UBD, participated in the Final Kata & Kumite Events.

The chief Referees were Sensei Hj. Malai Jefferydean bin Hj. Malai Mohammed and Sensei Hj. Okhida Simangasing, Brunei Karatedo National Team Coach.

 

Altogether there were 35 Events.

The highlight of the bouts was the action-packed Senior Male Open Category Kumite (sparring) Finalists Event between 2 National Team athletes.  Christopher Lo Jian Ming won the Gold Medal and Mohd. Fazil Rewandi bin Mohd. Faizal, the Silver.

The Championship concluded with the presentation of Certificates and prizes to the winners, by the Sponsors.

 

Trophies and prizes were kindly donated by MAH Veterinary Services and PTAS.
