| Brunei Darussalam bagged their first three medals on the second day of the 23rd Southeast Asian Games yesterday that came in the form of one silver and two bronze medals all coming from the karatedo and taekwando events. HRH Prince Haji Al-Muhtadee Billah, the Crown Prince and Senior Minister in the Prime Minister's Office paired with Randy Wong in the 8-ball pool doubles. The Crown Prince and Randy beat Indonesia but lost to Philippines and Singapore. The silver medal was won by Sim Chung Hiang in the karatedo kumite category of 70kg and below defeating his opponent from Vietnam while Brunei also collected a bronze medal in karatedo through Tong Kit Siong in the under 75 kg category. The second bronze came from the taekwando event in the bantamweight category for weight 51-55 kg that was won by Dyg Farrahwaheeda bte Hj Bujang. Two Brunei participants were also involved in the wushu male nanquan category as brothers, Isa Bismi and Ismi Bismi both finished in eighth and ninth place respectively. Host exponent, Pedro Quina bagged the gold medal with a final score of 9.30 followed by Ho Ro Bin of Malaysia with 9.21 with silver in second and bronze for Indonesia's Sandry Liong with 9.16 point. |
