" Pingat Indah Kerja Baik " (PIKB) = Meritorious Excellence Service Medal "

In 1998,  Shihan Hj. Malai Mohammed bin Hj. Malai Othman, 7th Dan, Wadokai's President and Chief Instructor, was bestowed with the State Honorary Medal, Pingat Indah Kerja Baik (PIKB).

 

Shihan Hj. Malai Mohammed received the Royal Award from HRH Paduka Seri Pengiran Bendahara Seri Maharaja Permaisuara Pengiran Muda Haji Sufri Bolkiah,  His Majesty's brother, in an auspicious ceremony that took place at the Lapau, more than 8 years ago.

 

HRH Prince Haji Sufri Bolkiah is also the President of Brunei Darussalam National Olympic Council.

On 22 February 2006, His Majesty the Sultan and Yang Di-Pertuan of Brunei Darussalam consented to award State Honorary medals Pingat Indah Kerja Baik (PIKB ) Medal for Meritorious Excellence Services in conjunction with His Majesty's 59th birthday.

 

His Majesty was represented by HRH Prince Hj Al-Muhtadee Billah, the Crown Prince and Senior Minister at the Prime Minister's Office at the presentation ceremony at the Balai Singgahsana Indra Kencana at Istana Nurul Iman.

One of the PIKB receipients, on 22 February 2006, was Sensei Abd. Rahman bin Md. Ali @ Sunny Luah Lian Yu, 5th Dan, Wadokai's Deputy President, and a Certified Wado Senior Instructor, who became  the 2nd Wado member to receive the royal medal.

The state medal is a reflection of Sensei Sunny's  hard work and excellent contribution to the nation especially in the area of Martial Arts, namely Wadokai Karatedo and Brunei Darussalam Karatedo Federation (BRUKAF).

 

Sensei Sunny, who works for Brunei Shell Petroluem Co., is currently assigned in the Sultanate of Oman as a Production Engineer.

 

Annually, by consent of His Majesty the Sultan and Yang Di-Pertuan of Brunei Darussalam, State Decorations  are presented  to individuals for their efforts and in recognition of their contribution to the country.

 

To qualify for the PIKB award, an individual must show undivided loyalty to His Majesty, the country, religion and must posses a clean record with the government of His Majesty the Sultan of Brunei.

 

Recipients of the Brunei State Decorations comprised of government officers from various departments and ministries as well as uniformed personnel and those from the public sector.

 

Medals are customarily presented in glittering traditional protocol ceremonies attended by hundred of YAM Pengiran-Pengiran Cheteria, Cabinet Ministers, LEGCO members of Councils, Deputy Ministers, Pengiran-Pengiran Peranakan, Pehin-Pehin, Menteri-Menteri, Heads of Diplomatic Corps as well as Permanent Secretaries and Department Heads.
